The Sferisterio Arena is a summer venue for opera since 1921 which is renowned worldwide. It is also the heart of cultural life in Macerata, and that is why the Arena Sferisterio Association carries out a series of activities throughout the year, especially those aimed at students. The aim is to actively involve the students in the summer programming, which is so distinctive and significant for all the Marche region.
Even in 2024 – the year celebrating the 60th anniversary of the Macerata Opera Festival – Lo Sferisterio a Scuola (Sferisterio at School) educational program has been developed in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Education of the City of Macerata. This program is designed to enrich the school curriculum thanks to specific activities tailored to different ages and objectives, providing practical and accessible training tools for teachers and families.
Music and opera are art forms that, if presented appropriately, have the power to engage audiences of all ages while fostering individual growth in a deep and meaningful way. This is even more true in Macerata, where the Sferisterio plays a key role in the cultural and business life of the city. For these reasons, in 2024, new forms of participation in the festival have been planned, which will make summer performances even more accessible and provide an opportunity to explore various moments of artistic creation.
